Northern Michigan pie, with a wider world inside.
New York–born Oreste started baking pies more than a decade ago in Chicago — and found he couldn’t stop. Together with Deon, from Cape Town, he ran Empanada Mama and The Pie Man in East Lakeview before the two bought the House of Pies in Alanson, which grew into The Sweet and Savory Pie Company. The case holds sweet classics — fruit pies, cream pies — while the savory menu ranges from chicken pot pie to South African curried beef inspired by bobotie.
